Updating SND datasets

Updating a dataset published with SND (Swedish National Data Service) on the Researchdata.se portal can be done by editing the metadata (information entered in the DORIS form) and/or creating a new version of the actual dataset (replacing or deleting uploaded files or adding new ones). For further information on this, visit SND’s website (see heading 4. Manage published datasets):

Updates to the metadata and files can be done by the "owner" of the DORIS entry (the person who originally created it) and by others that he or she may invite as editors. However, only the owner can actually submit the changes made so that they can be published. (Updates can technically also be done by DORIS administrators at SLU Data Management Support and at SND.)

Changing ownership

Each dataset in DORIS has a responsible department and if the owner leaves SLU this department still has the responsibility for the data. Should the department need to change owner, for someone else to update metadata and/or data, please notify us (DMS). We will need the new owner’s e-mail address. In addition, the new owner must have logged in to DORIS at least once so that the e-mail address can be found in the user database before they can be added as owner.

Note that ownership, in this context, does not refer to property of data but rather to the responsibility for depositing and publishing the dataset in SND DORIS. The research data collected or generated at SLU belongs to SLU as research principal.
